After a 9 month search, God has opened the door for us to purchase a new home at 1222 East Main Street in Havelock, NC. It's located right on the main thoroughfare in town, and will be a great location for us to serve the community from!

Through your faithfulness and generosity, as of March 7th, God has provided $10,600 of the $20,000 needed to complete the purchase of the building. We are also praying for an additional $50,000 for renovations for a total of $70,000.

Here FOR Good

In 2017, we launched Journey Church to be FOR our community and FOR you. Since we've been here, we've seen so many people find hope. Until now, we've been mobile, but now, we're #HereFORGood... we're moving to our own permanent location in Havelock!
At Journey Church people matter most to us. We don’t care about numbers, we care about people.  We want people to know that there is a God who is FOR them, and so are we. Stories of life change through Jesus Christ are what get us excited. We are passionate about seeing people grow in Christ, and multiplication of disciples and churches is our ultimate goal.

It would be easy for us to be satisfied with the miraculous things God is already doing, but... What If? What if what we have seen Jesus do over the first 3 years of Journey Church is only the beginning of what He has planned for us? What if Jesus is leading us to take new steps of surrender and faith so that even more people in Eastern NC could experience new life? What if God wanted us to make disciples that would spill over into the communities all around Craven and Carteret Counties? What if God promised to be with us and would provide all we need if we would only be strong and courageous? What if we believed the promises of God were true for each of our families and our church?

We believe God does not over promise nor does he under deliver! If we meet the conditions of his promises, he will always exceed our expectations! We invite you to join us on a two year journey called, What If? which we believe God will use to point more people to Jesus in our region than ever before!

100% Participation

Our primary goal is that 100% of our people, both local and online, would take a step in believing the promises of God in their lives as it relates to generosity. Our What If? season will include teaching, Bible study, and prayer so that you can have a What If? encounter with God.

$70,000 By May 1, 2021

The first phase of What If? saw God provide $85,000 in commitments to increased giving for the next 24 months! The second phase of What If? will focus on immediate financial needs. These include $20,000 for a downpayment on the building, and $50,000 in start-up costs to get in the building..

What If as we become more generous, we become more like Jesus? Generosity is a critical part of our growth as a follower of Jesus. But, it doesn't come naturally. We've developed this pathway to help you take the next step in your generosity journey.

This type of giver is one who gives for the very first time. This is someone who decides to give and trust God and the leaders of the church with this gift.

This type of giver is someone who decides to give on a consistent basis. This often requires planning, and this might be a reason to set up a recurring online gift, or to become disciplined with giving through regular checks.

This type of giver decides to make giving a priority in their personal budget. They begin asking questions like, "Why am I giving more money to my cell phone bill than I am to God?" This giver starts to make their giving an intentional choice that reflects how they feel about it in relation to the other things they spend their money on.

A Relentless Giver's commitment to giving actually governs the rest of their lifestyle. This type of giver asks the question, "Am I giving in a way that changes me?" A Relentless Giver has a giving commitment that is larger than their current situation so that they have to adjust the rest of their expenditures to meet the commitment.

A Legacy Giver is no longer asking the question, "God, how much do you want me to give?" A Legacy Giver asks, "God, how much do you want me to keep?"

What are you asking me to do?

We are asking you to pray and seek God for how He wants you to respond. Prepare your heart to hear Him, and then listen to what He says. Connect to a Journey Group if you aren't already a part of one. Talk with your spouse and your family about what this commitment will mean for this next season. Respond to the generosity of the gospel by giving extravagantly for the advancement of the gospel in our church family, among our neighbors, and around the world.

How long is my commitment?

Initially we were asking for monthly commitments for 24 months. We've reached our goal for that portion of the What If? initiative! Now we are trusting God for one time donations to help us pay the $20K downpayment on the building and the $50K startup costs.

What if I've never given to Journey Church before?

If you've never given financially to Journey, What If? is for you! What If? recognizes that everyone in the church is called to give generously and sacrificially to advance the mission of Jesus. What If? is not merely for "insiders," it's for ALL of us! It's a call for everyone at Journey Church (both our local family, and our online family) to take a their next step in generosity.

Are there additional ways besides financially that I can give to What If?

Be creative as you explore ways you and your family can give. Don't overlook stored assets that God has blessed you with. Gifts of appreciated property (stocks, real estate, mutual funds, artwork, collectibles, etc.) often make great gifts with significant tax advantages. If you need assistance with making a gift of property or stock, we would be delighted to help! You can contact us for questions about how to do this.

What if I don't have a job right now? What does it mean for my commitment?

What If? is about your total, radical sacrificial generosity for the mission of Jesus. God knows our every need, and Journey Church wants to help meet the needs, both in our church, and in our community. If you don't have a job and are actively seeking one, we'd love for you to share this with our pastor so our elders can be praying for you. Also, consider connecting to a Journey Group, where you will find a community of people who are ready to encourage you and pray with you. Our hope is that you will be able to find a job soon so you can be engaged in all that God has for you,

What if I can't afford to give right now?

Even in times of scarcity, God wants our hearts. The widow who gave her last mite did not make a very big financial contribution, but Jesus said she gave the largest gift of all. What If? is about ALL of us coming together, giving generously, and trusting God to do the rest. It may mean God is asking you to trust him by making a faith commitment that you don't know how to fulfill right now. There may also be ways to be sacrificial with your lifestyle to create margin for generosity in your life. Some will cancel cable, and some will ditch smartphone plans and return to basic mobile phones. Others will play less golf, and forego a few trips to Starbucks each week. Some families will buy smaller homes or rent a smaller apartment to be able to give generously for the advancement of the gospel. Find creative ways to involve the entire family in the process of giving generously. Use this as an opportunity to teach children and grandchildren to obey the Lord with a generous heart and to trust Him. This is a great opportunity to take a look at our overall stewardship of all God has entrusted to us.

What if I'm severely in debt right now?

It's important for generosity to be a part of our lives at every point. If you are in the process of paying off debt, we commend you, and you should continue to do so. But, the Bible does not teach that we withhold giving until we are debt-free. When we honor God first with our giving, He promises to be involved in every other aspect of our finances. Contact us if you'd like to speak with a financial coach.

How much is enough?

Knowing that we should give can be easy, but knowing how much to give presents a greater challenge. In the Old Testament, God asked his people to begin by giving Him a tenth of everything He provided them. This could be crops, income, or other possessions. This also was to be the best of what they had, not the leftovers. This was called "firstfruits" in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, we hear Jesus teach generosity, even above the tenth. He taught his followers to be sacrificial even as He had been. Jesus left Heaven to give his life for you, so then, how much should you give? That's a question only you can answer. But, we hope that in becoming a Legacy Giver, the question becomes, not how much to give, but how much to keep!
